De-Cluttering in De-Cember!
Cleaning was on the
top of my mom’s to do list before the New Year. We cleaned all the time of course
but we DEEP cleaned, threw away old junk and even bought new linens and a new
outfit(or just something new to wear) to
bring in the new year . Only one of those New Year tasks stuck with me and that’s
deep cleaning. I actually started to de-clutter during the first week of December
(I’m just a little late with this post, my apologies) but I still have a long
way to go. That’s where you come in. We can go through the process together.
Before December 30th (my sisters B-Day) our homes will be ready to
receive the New Year! This series will be broken down into 4 parts and will be
posted once a week so stay tuned.
Hope you enjoy!
Part
1.
Let’s start here: The
Kitchen
Start with the not
so fun stuff and keep them up as the month progresses.
This list includes:
Washing, drying, putting away clean dishes, mopping and sweeping which should
be done often of course.
1. Clean out the
refrigerator and wipe it down (Check expiration dates and get rid of the old.)
2. Organize pots,
pans and plastic containers. (Isn't it annoying when you can’t find the lid
that goes with your skillet??)
3. Wipe down and
organize ALL cabinets. Wipe and organize spices and canned goods (Check expiration
dates on old spices and canned food.)
4. Clean stove
burners or replace if needed.
5. Give your oven
a nice scrub down. (Even if you haven’t used in a while.)
6. Wipe down microwave
and wash microwave plate.
7. Is your junk
drawer in your kitchen? If so go through and make it less junky J
. There’s nothing wrong
with a junk
drawer.
8. Clean sink and
wipe down counters with a disinfectant spray.
9. End your
cleaning session by sweeping, spot cleaning then mopping kitchen floor.
10. Light
a scented candle on your kitchen counter and move right along. I love doing
this part.
This might not seem
like a lot. But life gets in the way and something that could easily take a few
days can turn into a week or two. Concentrate on one area of your home at a
time. This way you have a clear idea of what needs to get done. This week we’ll
start in the Kitchen. Hope you’re already!!
